National Pingtung Institute of Agriculture was restructured into National Pingtung Institute of Technology, and the Plant Protection Program was changed to the 2-year Plant Protection Technology Department
民國86年(1997)
National Pingtung Institute of Technology was restructured as National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. The department switched from a 2-year to a 4-year Plant Protection Department
民國89年(2000)
The department started offering master's program
民國97年(2008)
The department was renamed as the Department of Plant Medicine
